"The Milk Shed" Farm Stay coming soon...
The Herringbone Cottage
Come and enjoy our 13 acre equestrian lifestyle block.
This year (2015) we have totally renovated the old herring bone milking shed into a 2 bedroom fully self contained farmstay.
The Herringbone Cottage is packed with all the mod cons you'd expect in an architecturally designed facility, while still respecting its former dairy production role.
We can no longer provide you a cow to milk each day but the Herringbone Cottage is an ideal sanctuary for memorable honeymoons, romantic weekends or as a place to relax and have a break in the peace and tranquility of Whitemans Valley, while still being within 30 minutes of the Capital - Wellington city.
Ideal for long or short stays The Herringbone Cottage also offers an ideal stop-over for "Horse of the Year " attendees. We are a fully equipped equestrian property with flat horse safe land, stables, white post and rail fencing and plenty of room for secure truck and float parking.
The Herringbone Cottage provides a well equipped kitchen, new modern appliances and benefits from double glazing and a log burner fireplace. In the warmer months you can make use of your own private picnic area, walk or cycle the many tracks in the area or take a short walk down the road to the ShortStraw Cafe.
Relax and unwind looking out over lush green pastures and hills from the huge windows of the open plan lounge/dining area . Cosy up next to the fire on a winters night and chill out. Enjoy the quiet country life with all the charm it offers, yet just a short drive to Silverstream Village (including Silverstream train station), 35 minutes to the Ferry Terminal or 40 minutes to the Wellington CBD.
As you will see the cottage is an integral part of Greenfields Equestrian, a working riding school, so sit back and see what goes on; or if you are into horses this is the perfect place for you and your horse with these services also on offer:
Full livery agistment, grazing and stabling (must be booked in advance - no stallion facilities)
Off street secure parking for floats/horse trucks
Use of the commercially built 40 X 20 metre floodlit arena. (Must be booked in advance.)
Loose boxes, yards and paddocks.
